Safety First

  • 1Train under qualified coaching wherever possible — especially for elbows, knees, clinch, sweeps and any advanced technique.
  • 2Use suitable protective equipment: hand wraps, 16oz gloves, shin guards, mouthguard, headguard for sparring, elbow/knee pads where relevant.
  • 3Practise techniques slowly before adding speed or power. Speed without control causes injury.
  • 4Avoid full-force partner practice outside properly supervised training.
  • 5Condition shins and knuckles gradually over months — never rush impact conditioning.
  • 6Stop immediately if you feel pain, dizziness, or injury. Seek appropriate care.
  • 7Lethwei techniques (including headbutts) carry a particularly high injury risk — practise positioning and controlled concepts only, under qualified supervision, with protective equipment and rules.
  • 8Self-defence prioritises awareness, de-escalation and escape. Physical defence is a last resort, used only to create space to escape.
  • 9Never deliberately target vulnerable areas such as the eyes, throat, groin, spine or back of the head.

Combat Techniques Training is general martial-arts education and not a substitute for qualified coaching. Always train under supervision, use protective equipment, and progress slowly. For advanced and higher-risk techniques, qualified supervision is strongly recommended.
